JESSE KAWZENUK
 VFX SUPERVISOR /  FILMMAKER
I started making films in elementary school with a group of kids on my street. We walked into the local bank with toy guns and asked if we could film a robbery for a film.  After a few laughs, some concerns and immediate rejection we were able to secure the pharmacy across the street for our heist location.
High school consisted of retirement videos, fundraising and assembly videos all hoping for a laugh while trying to get a message through. In University I produced a weekly T.V. news segment while my friends and I were undefeated in the local 24hr film festivals.
Since those early days I have found my home in VFX, and it is most certainly where I belong. I love the everyday challenges, the problem solving and collaborations with other departments. Working with creatives to bring an idea to life.  I always feel if the problem comes to VFX then there is no other way to achieve a solution whether that be creatively or financially.
Working on hit Netflix shows such as "The Umbrella Academy" and "Wednesday" I was fortunate enough to receive two Emmy Nominations.  These were highly complex show with full CG characters and environment builds.
My home is Toronto and I am proud member of I.A.T.S.E 667 where I assisted with the initial negotiations of unionizing VFX. I teach an On Set VFX Course with LIFT (Liaison of Independent Filmmakers).  I am always looking to improve the craft I recently completed two courses with Gnomon school of VFX in Los Angeles, focusing on Compositing and Unreal Engine.
I welcome all ideas and projects and would be thrilled at the opportunity to assist you with your next dream.
